Teaching ideas
The School to Work program
The School to Work program is a NSW DET initiative to improve the preparation of school leavers moving into the workforce and/or further training. A range of teaching ideas has been developed to support teachers in the implementation of vocational learning in Agricultural Technology.
Animal welfare in agricultural teaching materials
A range of teaching materials have been developed to support teachers in the implementation of vocational learning in Agricultural Technology and offer explicit ways for teachers to address animal welfare with their students. The materials have been designed and developed by practising agriculture teachers as examples of animal welfare exercises that can be incorporated into units of work for a particular animal enterprise.
Each activity deals with some aspects of an animal enterprise but is not intended to provide complete coverage of the syllabus content relevant to that enterprise. The materials include teacher notes, student worksheets and suggested answers for the enterprises of:
- Beef production: Cattle operations
- Egg production: Poultry housing
- Wool production: Ewe nutrition and lambing
