Culture and design virtual gallery

The Culture and design virtual gallery was developed by the Technology Unit with funding from Multicultural Education Programs. The gallery showcases the work of three schools that participated in a pilot program.

Threads of culture features video-recorded presentations linking the ‘threads’ of textile items that hold considerable cultural significance to students.

Discover the world through soft furnishings features soft furnishings designed by students reflecting the cultural, historical and contemporary influences of a particular culture for a room in a new international hotel.

Soft sculptured dolls features soft sculptured textile art dolls designed by students reflecting the cultural, historical and contemporary influences of a particular culture.

Sustainable Design

The Australian Centre for Craft and Design and CLI have made ten short videos on the directors of five outstanding NSW design studios. The directors talk about their use of the design process, inspirations for design and the influence of sustainability on their design work. The interviews are on The Australian Centre for Craft and Design website Object. 

School to Work Resources

The School to Work program is a NSW DET initiative to improve the preparation of school leavers moving into the workforce and/or further training. A range of School to Work resources and teaching ideas has been developed to support teachers in the implementation of vocational learning in Textiles Technology.
