Electronic content allocation tool (ECAT)

The electronic content allocation tool (ECAT) is an Excel spreadsheet which allows the user to allocate content across the course and check that syllabus content is covered fully and evenly across a course plan, program or unit of work.

Assessment program for the HSC course (pdf - 40kb) This article appeared in Curriculum Support for teaching in TAS 7-12 (2000 Vol.5 No.3). It features an assessment program for the HSC course, sample tasks and the thinking that underpinned their development. 

HSC marking simulation videoconference

Teaching ideas

Sustainable Design

The Australian Centre for Craft and Design and CLI have made ten short videos on the directors of five outstanding NSW design studios. The directors talk about their use of the design process, inspirations for design and the influence of sustainability on their design work. The interviews are on The Australian Centre for Craft and Design website Object. 

Case studies in design, technology and cultural diversity

These case studies support the Design and Technology, Engineering Studies, Information Processes and Technology, and Textile and Design syllabuses and are a collaborative development between the DET and the Powerhouse Museum.

Careers in Design and Design Innovation

NSW HSC Online

NSW HSC Online/Textiles and Design is a valuable site for both students and teachers. It includes teaching and learning ideas, activities and resources for a number of HSC subjects. You can also download copies of the syllabus and specimen exam papers. 

HSC Study Guide

The HSC Study Guide is published each year by the Sydney Morning Herald. The articles are then uploaded to NSW HSC Online for twelve months.

Texstyle 

Texstyle is an exhibition of Major Textiles Projects for the Textiles and Design HSC. Examples of student work are showcased on the Board of Studies web site.  For a more detailed exploration of the Major Textiles Project visit the Texstyle gallery on NSW HSC Online.

CLI Masterclass Series: Akira Isogawa

The Masterclass series give students an opportunity to engage with an expert in a particular field in order to gain insight into professional practice. It situates learning within an authentic context and connects them to the real world and provides significance to their learning.  Fashion designer Akira Isogawa invites students into his studio and gives a behind the scenes look at his work and the fashion industry. Available at the TaLe website, this resource addresses HSC content regarding contemporary designers and current issues in the Australian Textiles, Clothing, Footwear and Allied Industries. An Akira Isogawa supporting reflection and research activity is also available.
